Job summary

RTX is seeking Mechanical Engineering Interns to support multi-disciplined teams in design, analysis, and production support for Air Launched and Ground Based Effectors. Roles involve data-driven decisions, technical documentation, and collaboration with engineering leads.

The internship offers hands-on experience in 3D modeling, GD&T, and configuration management within a safety-focused aerospace environment in the Tucson area.

Qualifications

  • Must be pursuing Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering or related (STEM) major and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
  • Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship / co-op session.
  • Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting concept development, detailed design, analysis, integration and test, support of transition to production efforts, factory production line support and product improvement.
  • Additional duties may include root cause / corrective action and problem resolution at on-site labs and factories or at various suppliers.
  • Candidate will work with Integrated Product Team Leads/Program Managers to define requirements, manage risks, and meet schedules/budgets.
  • You will ensure Technical Data Package quality per ASM Y14.5.
  • You will work under supervision of an Engineering team lead and prepare data-driven analyses.
  • 3D Parametric Modeling and communication of technical information through presentations.

Education

Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related (STEM) major

What You Will Do

  • Candidate will work closely with Integrated Product Team Leads/Program Managers to ensure that engineering requirements are defined, risks are managed, and schedules/budgets are met.
  • You will work within the process to ensure Technical Data Package quality per ASM Y14.5.
  • You will work under supervision of an Engineering team lead in performing your duties.
  • As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, your decisions will be data driven in nature and require preparing technical justification analysis reports as well as presenting to a variety of Engineering Review Boards.
  • 3D Parametric Modeling Communication of technical information by way of presentations and other means.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Must be pursuing Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering or related (STEM) major and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.

Qualifications We Prefer
  • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5.
  • Experience with Creo modeling and drafting.
  • Experience with Windchill and configuration management 3.0.
  • Cumulative GPA desired.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective‑bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective‑bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
