Job summary

RTX's Effector RF Design Department in Tucson, AZ offers an RF Mechanical Engineer Intern position for Summer 2027. You will contribute to RF system designs, create 3D CAD models, and support prototype hardware from concept to fabrication.

The ideal candidate is pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or a STEM field, with at least 60 credit hours by start date, and a hands-on mindset eager to learn alongside seasoned engineers.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or STEM and actively enrolled through the internship/co-op session.
  • Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship / co-op session.
  • Coursework, project, internship, or professional experience in manufacturing and design, thermodynamics and heat transfer, vibrations, materials, mechatronics, and/or statics.

  • Collaborating in a multi-discipline team setting to solve complex engineering problems

At Raytheon, the Effector RF Design Department is seeking is seeking a highly motivated RF Mechanical Engineer Intern for Summer 2027 who will have the skills and passion to develop complex Radio Frequency (RF) systems, subsystems and components, including antennas, RF circuit cards, and RF test-equipment. A successful candidate is one who functions in a multi-disciplined team, properly applies engineering tools and processes, and is a self-motivated problem solver with a positive attitude and willingness to learn. All interns will work within a larger team at Raytheon. Interns perform meaningful engineering tasks for their assigned projects and will also have access to a variety of career development opportunities. These include access to technical mentors and the ability to “shadow” experienced professionals in order to learn about real industry positions.

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Must be pursuing Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) major and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session .
  • Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship / co-op session
  • Coursework, project, internship, or professional experience in one or more of the following areas: manufacturing and design, thermodynamics and heat transfer, vibrations, materials, mechatronics, and/or statics.
Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Class projects, professional internships, or academic research demonstrating the ability to apply technical coursework.
  • Familiarity with 3D CAD design (preferably Creo Parametric).
  • Experience in antenna and/or electronics packaging.
  • Experience creating engineering drawings and fabricating prototype designs
  • Familiarity with the application of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Self-motivated problem solver with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

Relocation Eligibility

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

RTX anticipates the application window closing approximately 40 days from the date the notice was posted. However, factors such as candidate flow and business necessity may require RTX to shorten or extend the application window.
