Job summary

RTX in Fullerton, CA seeks a Mechanical Engineer to support the Sentinel radar product line onsite. You will model subsystems, generate drawings, and collaborate across cross‑functional teams to accelerate production and program execution.

Responsibilities include developing 3‑D designs, supporting TDPs, and driving engineering changes while traveling up to 10% to suppliers. A DoD Secret clearance is required for consideration.

Mechanical Engineer Product Team role will support the Sentinel radar product line based in Fullerton, CA and may require domestic and international travel to suppliers. This position will be an onsite role.

Position Role Type: Onsite

U.S. Citizen, U.S. Person, or Immigration Status Requirements: Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.

U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Security Clearance Type: DoD Clearance: Secret Security Clearance Status: Ability to obtain INTERIM U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.

What You Will Do
  • Working within a team environment to develop innovative mechanical subsystems with solid modeling practices and drawing creation using CAD tools such as Creo Parametric, Solidworks, or equivalent.
  • Develop preliminary sketches, diagrams, and other engineering information to generate 3‑D design models and/or conceptual designs.
  • Exposure to solid modeling practices and drawing creation using CAD tools such as Creo Parametric, Solidworks, or equivalent.
  • Provide Mechanical Engineering solutions on production issues to functional leadership and engagement for resources (Subject Matter Experts, etc.) to resolve production issues rapidly and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with functional team leads for the integration efforts across the Cross Product Teams in the Sentinel portfolio to ensure successful system design, integration, production and program execution.
  • Provide radar technical data package (TDP) support that includes design, development, manufacturing, and failure investigation solutions.
  • Learn disciplined application of tools / processes / approaches / instructions across the radar product life cycle.
  • Participant in the Engineering changes process, peer review process, Engineering Documentation Standards (EDS) implementation, Configuration Control Board (CCB) participant as required by command media.
  • Supports program growth and technology insertion strategies working closely with the functional leaders, program technical leadership, and Program Office.
  • Supports the Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL) for planning and execution of production programs, lateral product applications, and major Engineering Changes.
Qualifications – You Must Have
  • Master’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) major obtained by start date.
  • Experience in mechanical engineering design knowledge.
  • Experience in product lifecycle stages of a radar production program.
  • Experience resolving technical challenges.
  • Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.
Qualifications – We Prefer
  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or hardware system design related major.
  • Experience in manufacturing and tolerancing mechanisms.
  • Experience in ANSI/ASME Y14.5 GD&T (Geometric Dimension and Tolerances).
  • Experience with CAD.

Position requires a minimum of 10% of travel to suppliers and production facilities which include domestic and international travel. This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

The salary range for this role is 75,800 USD - 144,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

RTX anticipates the application window closing approximately 40 days from the date the notice was posted. However, factors such as candidate flow and business necessity may require RTX to shorten or extend the application window.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.
