RTX is seeking a mechanical engineer to develop subsystems and create CAD-based designs for radar production programs. The role involves solid modeling, drawing creation, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to resolve production issues and ensure successful integration across Sentinel products.
The candidate will contribute to the design, development and failure investigation of radar systems, while participating in engineering changes and documentation standards.

The Tactical Radars department within Raytheon Hardware Engineering supports the development, production, and deployment of multiple defense products including radars, missiles, command and control systems, and naval electronics. The products support US Government and international customers.
Work within a team environment to develop innovative mechanical subsystems with solid modeling practices and drawing creation using CAD tools such as Creo Parametric, Solidworks, or equivalent. Develop preliminary sketches, diagrams, and other engineering information to generate 3-D design models and/or conceptual designs. Exposure to solid modeling practices and drawing creation using CAD tools such as Creo Parametric, Solidworks, or equivalent. Knowledge of fabrication processes, capabilities and limitations. Support Mechanical Engineering solutions on production issues to functional leadership and engagement for resources (Subject Matter Experts, etc.) to resolve production issues rapidly and efficiently. Support functional team leads for the integration efforts across the Cross Product Teams in the Sentinel portfolio to ensure successful system design, integration, production and program execution. Provide Radar technical data package (TDP) support that includes design, development, manufacturing, and failure investigation solutions. Basic understanding of tools / processes / approaches / instructions across product life cycles. Participant in the Engineering changes process, peer review process, Engineering Documentation Standards (EDS) implementation, Configuration Control Board (CCB) participant as required by RTX process. Supports program growth and technology insertion strategies working closely with the functional leaders, program technical leadership, and Program Office. Supports Mechanical leads for planning and execution of production programs, lateral product applications, and Engineering Changes.
Bachelor degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) major obtained by start date. Experience in mechanical engineering design knowledge. Experience in product lifecycle stages of a radar production program. Experience resolving technical challenges. Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.
Bachelor in Mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or hardware system design related. Experience in manufacturing and tolerancing mechanisms. Experience in ANSI/ASME Y14.5 GD&T (Geometric Dimension and Tolerances). Strong CAD.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
Position requires a minimum of 10% of travel to suppliers and production facilities which include domestic and international travel.

The salary range for this role is 62,900 USD - 119,700 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
