Job summary

Bio-Techne is seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer to lead projects in development and support of analytical instruments. Based in San Jose, you will work under the Mechanical Engineering Hardware Manager with a team of engineers and scientists across the portfolio.

The role spans concept feasibility, new product development, manufacturing fixtures, and field support. You will design, prototype, and iterate to meet product requirements while ensuring compliance with relevant standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Masters in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 3–5 years of hands-on mechanical design experience required.
• Experience designing mechanical components, assemblies, fixtures, or products.
• System-level thinking and strong technical problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks and PDM, following ASME standards.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes (rapid prototyping, machining, injection molding, extrusion, sheet metal).

Responsibilities

• Design and develop analytical instruments and accessories.
• Deliver best-in-class products by collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Iterate quickly on prototypes to meet requirements and standards.
• Apply engineering knowledge to ensure feasibility, reliability, and manufacturability.
• Create engineering docs, 3D models, drawings, BOMs, and reports.
