Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a Mechanical Engineer I to join our team in Austin. You will support mechanical designs for satellites and aerospace systems, including electronics packaging, CAD work, and simulations across development stages.

Strong CAD and analytical skills are essential. The role requires a BS in mechanical engineering with about 1 year of industry experience, plus proficiency in GD&T and engineering documentation.

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering with at least 1 year of design/analysis experience
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles
  • Experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo or AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of GD&T and engineering documentation practices
  • Experience with ANSYS or MATLAB or similar
  • Experience with CNC manufacturing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Support mechanical designs through all phases of development from concept to qualification
  • Involve electronics packaging design, mechanical simulations and analyses, and CAD activities
  • Work with spacecraft mechanical interfaces and environmental qualification of electronic assemblies
  • Present engineering design review materials and collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Carry out GD&T, documentation, and cost-conscious design improvements
