Job summary

Jacobs seeks a Mechanical Engineer to join our Arlington, VA or Boston, MA team. You will design HVAC systems, prepare design documentation, and develop plant utilities and BMS concepts for federal projects.

The role involves calculations, load analysis, and collaboration with cross-disciplinary teams to deliver solutions for critical infrastructure and advanced manufacturing environments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • At least 2 years of relevant HVAC/buildings design experience (federal including DoD, Federal Civilian and/or Defense Contractor preferred).
  • Experience with Revit.
  • Proficient in load calculation/energy modeling software such as Trace 3D Plus, Carrier HAP, etc.
  • Federal security clearance is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop conceptual and Basis of Design level design approaches and documentation.
  • Develop HVAC and plant utility systems philosophies.
  • Develop mechanical/utility equipment and construction specifications.
  • Perform temperature/humidity control/utility load calculations.
  • Develop airflow diagrams, pressurization plans, and ductwork/piping plans.
  • Develop equipment plans, plant utility distribution plans, and system details; develop BMS control philosophy and sequences.
  • Provide construction assistance through submittal reviews, RFIs, and field visits to verify implementation.
  • Travel as required for client development and project execution.
