Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for our Riverside, CA office. You will work with the Property & Buildings Team on mechanical systems for building projects, supporting design through construction while solving client challenges.

The role requires 3–5 years of post-education experience and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, with knowledge of HVAC, controls, and building codes. You’ll collaborate across disciplines to deliver high-quality, safe, compliant designs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or closely related discipline.
• 3–5 years of post-education mechanical design experience for building systems.
• Knowledge of HVAC, controls and building mechanical systems design.
• Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit and related codes (ASHRAE, IECC).
• Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance for design, development and construction of mechanical systems.
• Support HVAC system design including air distribution, hydronic systems and controls.
• Assist with research, concept development and construction documents.
• Perform mechanical calculations and support system sizing and selection.
• Analyze engineering data from drawings, field observations and reports.
• Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure code compliance.
• Coordinate with electrical, structural and architectural disciplines.
• Contribute to technical reports and presentations for project findings.
• Ensure work aligns with WSP quality, safety and performance standards.
