Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Riverside, CA to design and deliver building systems for healthcare, commercial, higher education, and civic projects. You will work across HVAC, hydronic, plumbing, and related systems, taking projects from concept to construction while ensuring code compliance.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in mechanical design for building systems.
  • Experience supporting projects across healthcare and/or commercial, higher education, or civic sectors.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems and mechanical design principles.
  • Experience supporting projects from design through construction.
  • Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD and related engineering tools.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze data from site conditions, drawings, and documents to support solutions.

  • Ensure designs comply with codes and healthcare requirements.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Support client interactions and project meetings; build relationships.
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to team development.

Job description

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Property & Buildings team in Riverside, CA.

Your Impact
  • Perform mechanical engineering design and technical delivery across a diverse portfolio including healthcare, commercial, higher education, and civic projects
  • Support design of HVAC, air distribution, hydronic, plumbing, and building systems
  • Participate in the full project lifecycle, from concept development through construction and close-out
  • Analyze and interpret data from site conditions, drawings, and technical documents to support engineering solutions
  • Prepare and contribute to technical reports, specifications, and design documentation
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and sector-specific requirements, including healthcare environments
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver integrated project solutions
  • Support client interactions and project meetings, building strong working relationships
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to team development
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in mechanical design for building systems
  • Experience supporting projects across healthcare and/or commercial, higher education, or civic sectors

Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or on track to obtain
  • Experience working on complex healthcare or institutional projects
  • Familiarity with California codes and local jurisdiction requirements
  • Experience working with multi-disciplinary engineering teams
  • LEED AP or sustainability credentials

Compensation

Expected Salary: $100,800- $147,000
