Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or related field. MSME is a plus.
  • Experience in design, analysis, and/or maintenance of rotating machinery; power generation industry preferred.
  • Strong CAD/CAE fundamentals, GD&T knowledge, and CAE experience.

Responsibilities

  • Execute engineering optimization studies interfacing with manufacturing engineering and supply management.
  • Contribute to the conceptional, basic and detailed design of Large Electric Generators for service and new apparatus.
  • Perform complex analytical studies of generator components using ANSYS or similar codes.
  • Prepare detailed product definitions including CAD models, drawings and BOMs.
  • Support design reviews and release engineering information for manufacturing and service repair.

As Mechanical Engineer in the Generator Component Design Department, you will play a key role in the design, development, testing and optimization of Large Electric Generators for the Fossil and Nuclear Power industry. You will develop recommendations for new products, processes, or design changes to an evolving market and customer requirements. In addition, you will apply advanced skills to resolve complex problems, not covered by existing procedures or practices.

As Mechanical Engineer in the Generator Component Design Department, you will play a key role in the design, development, testing and optimization of Large Electric Generators for the Fossil and Nuclear Power industry. You will develop recommendations for new products, processes, or design changes to an evolving market and customer requirements. In addition, you will apply advanced skills to resolve complex problems, not covered by existing procedures or practices.

The ideal candidate displays a high level of critical thinking in bringing successful resolution to high-impact, complex, and/or multi-functional problems. You will be highly organized and possess a strong background in CAD/CAE fundamentals, GD&T methods, machine design, failure mode analysis and product development processes.

How You’ll Make An Impact
  • Execute engineering optimization studies. Interface with manufacturing engineering and supply management to assure competitive and cost-efficient designs.
  • Contribute to the Conceptional, Basic and Detailed design of Large Electric Generators for both Service and New Apparatus products.
  • Perform complex analytical studies of generator components using ANSYS or similar code.
  • Prepare detailed Product Definition, including CAD Models, technical drawings and Bills of Materials.
  • Contribute to the preparation and execution of Design Reviews as required by internal requirements. Release engineering information to support the manufacture and service repair of Generator Rotors, Stators, Exciters, and Collector products.
  • Support manufacturing with technical advice, troubleshooting, co-operative problem solving, disposition of product deviations, process reviews, and execution of design improvements.
  • Assist in the resolution/remediation of product issues and participate in root cause analyses.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, suppliers, and manufacturing personnel through clear, concise and complete verbal and written instructions, specifications, and reports.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related technical field required. MSME is a plus.
  • Previous experience in design, analysis, and/or maintenance of rotating machinery; in the power generation industry preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in CAD, GD&T and CAE fundamentals.
  • Previous experience with SAP, Teamcenter, and NX modeling software knowledge is a plus.
  • Detail-oriented with good analytical skills. Self-motivated and able to collaborate effectively in a team setting with excellent communication skills.
  • Willing to travel (10%).
  • Candidates with more experience can be considered for a higher level or vice versa.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
