Job summary

Siemens Energy is seeking a Design Engineer for the Large Gas Turbine Combustion Design team in the United States. You will design and deliver combustion components, support production growth, and help ensure on-time delivery of advanced technology powering the energy transition.

  • Ability to collaborate across cross-functional and global teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop combustion components for large gas turbine systems.
  • Support supplier qualification and production readiness with robust CAD deliverables.
  • Collaborate with project management, manufacturing, and purchasing to optimize designs for quality and cost.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, calculations, PMI drawings, and specifications.

How You’ll Make An Impact
  • Strengthen Supply Chain Resilience: Support the qualification of new global suppliers and help eliminate single-sourcing risks for critical combustion components.
  • Drive Mechanical Design Excellence: Develop robust mechanical designs for gas turbine combustion components using advanced CAD tools such as Siemens NX.
  • Own the Design Lifecycle:Support products from concept development through implementation, manufacturing support, and production readiness.
  • Create Critical Technical Documentation: Develop calculations, specifications, PMI drawings, and supporting engineering documentation to ensure successful execution.
  • Collaborate Across Functions: Partner with project management, aerodynamics, manufacturing, purchasing, and supplier teams to optimize designs for quality, cost, and manufacturability.
  • Support Global Manufacturing Operations: Provide technical guidance and on-site support to international manufacturing partners, including travel to ASIA (China, India) / Europe when required.
What You Bring
Required:
  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; a PhD or other advanced degree may be considered in lieu of some experience requirements.
  • 5–8+ years of experience in mechanical design and development, preferably within gas turbine combustion systems. Additional experience may be considered for a more senior level.
  • Strong expertise in detailed component design, stack-up analysis, tolerancing, and GD&T.
  • Proficiency with advanced CAD systems, preferably Siemens NX, and engineering documentation and design tools.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional and global teams.
  • Willingness to travel internationally up to 40%, including travel to China, to support supplier qualification and manufacturing activities.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
Preferred:
  • Gas turbine combustion / casing design and development
  • Siemens NX, PMI and the Siemens Energy PDP process
  • International suppliers and manufacturing partnerships in global engineering environments
  • Supporting supplier qualifications, manufacturing transfers, or supply chain development
  • Intercultural experience and a collaborative mindset for cross-disciplinary innovation.
