Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED; pursuing or have a Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, or related field is a plus.
  • Minimum of 6 months experience in field service preferred; more experience may qualify for a senior role.
  • Must meet physical demands: climb ladders, work in confined spaces, outdoor conditions, long walks, up to 40 lbs.
  • 100% travel required; remote work is not typical, but positions are travel-intensive.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.

  • Develop expertise in equipment operation, maintenance, safety, project management, leadership, and Siemens Energy systems.
  • Supervise technicians performing maintenance and repair on generator equipment during outages.
  • Conduct visual inspections and perform electrical and mechanical testing to assess condition and performance.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams worldwide to execute specialized testing and diagnostics.
  • Analyze findings and advise customers on necessary repairs and maintenance.
  • Serve as primary customer contact during outages, ensuring repairs are completed safely and on schedule.

Seasonal Generator Field Services Engineer provides field engineering oversight on all types of generator work for a minimum of 1560 hours per year. The successful candidate performs inspection, testing, communicates to customers both internal and external, and provides crew supervision. Typical work weeks while in the field range from 60-91 hours per week. This position offers 4 months of optional work time to help with the employee’s work-life balance The Seasonal Generator Field Services Engineer will be accountable to perform crew supervision, inspection, testing, and communication to customers both internal and external. This position is part of Turbine and Generator Specialty Services based in Region North America but serves customers globally. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys traveling and is looking to begin their engineering career!

How You’ll Make An Impact
  • Develop expertise in equipment operation, maintenance, job site safety, project management, leadership, and Siemens Energy business systems through hands‑on training with senior field service engineers.
  • Supervise technicians performing maintenance and repair work on generator equipment during planned and unplanned power plant outages.
  • Conduct visual inspections and perform electrical and mechanical testing to assess equipment condition and performance.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams worldwide to execute specialized mechanical and electrical testing and diagnostics.
  • Analyze findings and work with engineering to provide customers with recommendations for necessary repairs and maintenance.
  • Serve as the primary customer contact during outages, ensuring repairs are completed accurately, safely, and on schedule
What You Bring
  • Must have either a High School diploma/GED; pursuing or have a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, or related field is a plus.
  • Minimum of 6 mos experience in field service is preferred; Candidates with more experience may be eligible for a more senior level position.
  • Able to meet the physical demands of the role, including climbing ladders, working in confined spaces and outdoor conditions, walking long distances, and lifting up to 40 pounds.
  • Working knowledge of large electrical apparatus, including but not only to generator inspection, testing, generator rewinds and repairs; This position is 100% REMOTE due to 100% travel is required.
  • Team-oriented professional who collaborates effectively with customers and colleagues to deliver exceptional service and Self-motivated leader with the initiative to use available resources and guide others in developing innovative solutions.
  • Willing to travel typically 200-250 days per year for anywhere from 2-15 weeks at a time. (While deployed, you will work extended working hours of up to 12-14 hours per day including weekends/holidays, 6 – 7 days per week. A typical work week can be 60-84 hours.)
