Sargent & Lundy in the United States is seeking a Mechanical Designer to develop 3‑D plant layout drawings and lead mechanical design coordination on multi‑discipline projects, collaborating with engineers and other designers to ensure a complete, integrated model.

The role emphasizes hands‑on modeling in SmartPlant S3D, piping isometrics, and field walkdowns when needed; you will mentor junior drafters, review vendor drawings, and support deliverables.

Qualifications

• Experience with SmartPlant S3D modeling software including the following: Understanding of SPID, SPF and S3D
• Clash detection resolution and discrepancy checks between deliverables
• Interface with SmartPlant Administrators in development of mechanical deliverable templates and catalogs
• Drawing Presentation Rules Set Up and Plant model data management

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical layout drawings in 3-D model under Mechanical Project Lead
• Design mechanical systems and troubleshoot design issues
• Use 3D modeling software to generate mechanical schematics
• Lead coordination of detailed design phases for all aspects of the mechanical model
• Coordinate and guide other designers to ensure timely design
• Plan and execute general arrangements, piping isometrics, pipe supports and equipment location drawings
• Possibly conduct field walkdowns and data gathering at client facilities
• Mentor less experienced drafters and designers
• Assist on client facility walkdowns to gather information
• Capable of being badged for unescorted access to a nuclear station
