Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Mechanical Designer to develop and coordinate mechanical general arrangements, piping isometrics, and equipment layouts in a 3D model. You will utilize SmartPlant S3D, SPID and SPF to generate deliverables, BOMs, and catalogs.

The role requires leading the mechanical design team, resolving clashes, and mentoring junior designers while ensuring alignment with project requirements and timelines. A hybrid in-office/remote arrangement supports work-life balance.

Qualifications

• Experience with SmartPlant S3D modeling software and SPID/SPF integration
• Clash detection resolution and discrepancy checks
• Interface with SmartPlant Administrators for templates and catalogs
• Drawing presentation rules setup and plant model data management
• Minimum three years of detailed mechanical plant design experience (piping, pipe supports, equipment layout)
• Proficiency with 3D plant layout tools and reviewing project deliverables

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical general arrangement, piping isometrics, pipe supports, and equipment layouts in 3D
• Produce design deliverables, BOMs, and commodity lists
• Interpret piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID) and align with engineering requirements
• Lead mechanical design coordination across disciplines
• Resolve 3D model clashes and discrepancies
• Mentor less experienced drafters and designers
• Plan and execute designs for mechanical deliverables
