Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Metairie, LA seeks a Mechanical Designer with strong SmartPlant S3D experience to develop mechanical layouts, isometrics, and BOMs within a hybrid work setting. You will interpret P&ID, lead detailed design phases, and resolve 3D model clashes while coordinating with multi-discipline teams.

Mentoring junior drafters is expected. The role demands at least three years of detailed mechanical plant design, proficiency in 3D plant layout tools, and collaboration with engineers

Qualifications

• Experience with SmartPlant S3D modeling software including integration with SPID, SPF and S3D
• Clash detection resolution and discrepancy checks
• Interface with SmartPlant Administrators for templates/catalogs
• Plant model data management and 3D plant layout proficiency
• Minimum three years of detailed design in mechanical plant drawings (piping, pipe supports, equipment layout)

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical general arrangement, piping isometrics, pipe supports, and equipment layout drawings in a 3-D model
• Generate mechanical design deliverables, BOMs, and commodity lists using SmartPlant S3D
• Interpret piping and instrumentation diagrams and ensure designs meet engineering requirements
• Act as mechanical design team lead coordinating detailed design phases
• Resolve clashes and discrepancies in the 3D model and report status
• Coordinate and mentor other designers and project team members
• Independently plan and execute design of mechanical deliverables
