Centrus Energy Corp. is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to design and upgrade piping systems for liquids and gases, while providing field support and documentation. The role emphasizes hands-on engineering, hands‑on commissioning, and growth under mentorship.

You will work on sizing pumps and valves, perform thermal and flow analyses, and ensure compliance with ASME codes and safety standards in an industrial setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field) from an accredited institution or equivalent.
• ASME code familiarity, piping-stress fundamentals, and OSHA or safety coursework encouraged.
• 2+ years hands-on experience as a mechanical designer focusing on piping, fluid systems, or process equipment in industrial settings.
• Experience sizing and selecting pumps, valves, heat exchangers, and related mechanical components.
• Familiarity with ASME codes and welding procedures; industrial safety familiarity.
• Exposure to drafting/analysis tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CFD/FEA packages, and piping-stress software.
• Experience in regulated/process industries is advantageous.
• Must possess or have the ability to obtain and maintain a Q clearance.

Responsabilités

• Design, modification, and layout of facility piping systems with component sizing for pumps, motors, heaters, blowers, valves, and pressure vessels.
• Create, update, and redline mechanical/piping drawings, plans, and specifications per codes and standards.
• Perform pressure-drop, flow, and basic thermal calculations; assist with CFD/FEA analyses.
• Conduct pipe-stress and support-structure checks and document results for reviews; participate in hazard analyses and safety reviews.
• Prepare ROMs, equipment lists, and technical evaluations to support procurement.
• Get hands-on with factory acceptance tests, field inspections, and commissioning under senior staff.
