Job summary

Intellectt Inc is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in Henrico, VA, onsite, with 4–8 years in low-voltage switchgear and sheet metal design. The role focuses on hardware for electrical power distribution, using UL 891 standards and CAD tools like Inventor, Vault, and SolidWorks.

You will design components, develop 3D models, and create detailed drawings, collaborating closely with manufacturing to ensure designs are production-ready and manufacturable throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 4–8 years of relevant mechanical design experience.
• Experience in sheet metal design and copper component design.
• Knowledge of UL 891 standards.
• Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor, Vault, and SolidWorks.
• Understanding of manufacturability and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for low-voltage switchgear.
• Create sheet metal designs for support structures and copper components.
• Develop mechanical support structures for electrical power distribution equipment.
• Create designs for Tap-Off Units, PDUs, RPPs, and Main Switch Boards.
• Apply UL 891 standards to mechanical designs.
• Create and maintain 3D models, assemblies, and drawings.
• Collaborate with manufacturing to ensure production-readiness.
• Apply design-for-manufacturability throughout the process.
