Job summary

Festo Corporation seeks a Mechanical Engineer II to independently design and develop catalogue and customer-specific products. You will convert requirements into technical concepts, perform cost/performance analyses, and support product lifecycle activities across product families.

The role involves collaboration with Purchasing, suppliers, and our headquarters in Germany, with emphasis on cost reduction, quality, and manufacturability improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
• 3–7 years in mechanical engineering, automation preferred.
• Strong CAD proficiency (CREO or similar).
• German language knowledge a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop new catalogue and customer-specific products.
• Lead cost, quality, and manufacturability improvements.
• Prepare proposals and feasibility assessments with risks, deadlines, costs, and manufacturability.
• Prepare engineering documentation (models, drawings, parts lists, data sheets).
• Perform calculations and simulations (FEA, spring, screw, O-ring, materials).
• Build, test, and evaluate prototype designs for proof of concept.
• Coordinate with Purchasing, suppliers, customers, and Headquarters in Germany.
• Identify cost-saving or quality improvements within product families.
• Suggest changes to design standards, tools, and processes.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and cross-functional problem solving.
