Job summary

Festo Corporation is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer I in Mason, OH to assist in designing new catalog and customer-specific products. You will work under supervision to translate requirements into technical concepts using standard tools and processes while learning Festo design standards.

The role involves CAD work, design concepts, prototype testing, and collaboration with sales and headquarters in Germany.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of mechanical engineering experience.
• Basic proficiency in CAD (CREO or similar).
• Foundational knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes.
• Self-motivated and able to learn.

Responsibilities

• Supports development of new catalogue and customer-specific products under guidance.
• Assist with product care activities such as minor cost/quality improvements.
• Contribute to design concepts and proposals, including feasibility evaluations using basic calculations, CAD tasks, and risk, cost, and schedule considerations.
• Prepare and maintain engineering documentation such as models, drawings, parts lists, and data sheets in accordance with internal and general specifications, with review by senior staff.
• Participate in prototype builds and testing according to defined instructions.
• Support change management documentation and tracking.
• Work in close cooperation with customers, sales teams, and the Headquarters in Germany.
• Communicate with Sales and Purchasing primarily through supporting tasks or data gathering.
• Participate in customer discussions with a senior engineer present.
