Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking design engineering interns/new graduates for immersive experience in HVAC design and building systems. You will work on design‑build and design‑assist projects across healthcare, education, biotech, and commercial markets, collaborating with model coordinators, estimators, and field staff to create practical, cost‑effective designs.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of HVAC and plumbing systems design.
• Basic ability to read mechanical and plumbing plans.
• Good verbal and written communications skills.
• Good computer skills, including CADD and Microsoft Office products (Excel).

Responsibilities

• Perform basic deliverables and calculations related to HVAC systems under supervision.
• Perform basic calculations for a project, such as loads, equipment sizing, and friction loss.
• Assist in coordinating design aspects with project management, architects, and other trades through close collaboration.
• Perform and check CADD drafting work.
