Job summary

Amphenol Corporation is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer focused on High Speed IO in data center applications. You will concept, design, and verify hardware to integrate IO connectors into customer systems, working with internal and external teams to ensure manufacturability and performance targets.

You will perform FMEA, tolerancing, and design for manufacturability, collaborating with materials engineering for optimal metal and polymer choices.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Experience with CAD design for hardware and fixtures.

Responsibilities

Conceptualize, design, and develop hardware to integrate IO connectors into customer systems.
Perform Design FMEA, tolerance analysis, DFM, FEA, and risk analysis.
Define customer needs and performance requirements with marketing and customers.
Coordinate with stamping, plating, molding and assembly to optimize production.
Lead product design reviews and verify GD&T usage.
Select materials with engineering reasoning for performance and cost.
Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing for prototyping, pilot, and beta-site validation.
Define verification and product qualification test plans.
Drive First Article Inspections and transition products to manufacturing.
Mentor team members and coordinate with global associates.
