Job summary

Amphenol Communications Solutions (ACS), a division of Amphenol Corporation, seeks a Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer focused on Data Center IO. You will design, verify, and qualify hardware to meet customer specs, and work globally with suppliers and manufacturing to drive prototypes through pilot production.

Ideal candidates have hands-on CAD/FEA experience, GD&T mastery, and strong collaboration skills to support cross-functional teams across marketing, NPI, and customers.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience with static and dynamic loading analysis.
• Experience with design for manufacturability and tolerancing.
• Familiarity with GD&T and material selection.
• Experience with mechanical testing and environmental testing.

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize and develop hardware to integrate IO connectors into customer systems.
• Perform Design FMEA, tolerance analysis, and risk assessment.
• Lead design reviews with internal/external stakeholders.
• Coordinate with stamping, plating, molding, and assembly for production readiness.
• Verify drawings and ensure proper GD&T usage.
• Define material choices based on performance and cost.
• Present concepts to customers and incorporate feedback.
• Develop verification and qualification test plans.
• Support NPIs and transition to manufacturing teams.
