Job summary

X Energy, LLC is seeking a senior mechanical engineering leader to oversee a group of engineers across multiple projects focused on advanced reactor plant systems. You will direct design, analysis, and drafting activities, coordinate resources, and guide technical decisions to ensure high-quality results.

The role requires a strong background in mechanical design, CAD/PLM tools, and experience supervising engineers through design cycles, with travel up to 10% and a 5-day in-office schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
• Typically, ten years of engineering experience. Graduate degrees typically count as two plus years of experience.
• Experience and/or knowledge in a minimum of one of the following areas: Designing and developing mechanical or fluid systems, assemblies, or components.
• Hardware ownership including manufacturing and testing oversight.
• Use of CAD (computer-aided design) and PLM software.
• Examples include UG/NX, SolidWorks, Pro-Engineer, Teamcenter, Windchill, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Manages the execution of the mechanical design, analysis, and evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles.
• Lead team responsible for performing the mechanical design of various advanced reactor plants.
• Manages the utilization of engineering resources across multiple projects.
• Adjudicates technical differences to determine best option while fostering healthy engineering dialogue.
• Lead design cycle sprints and coordinate convergence of efforts to deliver high-quality work on schedule and within budget.
• Manages staff by ensuring they meet expectations and promote development.
• Influences strategy, methodology and tools for the area of responsibility, including resource control and policy.
