Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Richland, WA is seeking a Mechanical Designer to design gloveboxes, furnaces, hot cells, and pressure vessels, using 2D/3D CAD tools and coordinating with multi-discipline teams.

Under the Mechanical Project Lead you will develop drawings and CAD models while contributing to detailed design and field data collection at client facilities. The role offers mentoring, training, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain US Government security clearance.
• Associate's Degree in drafting or a high school diploma with drafting coursework and technical experience.
• Three or more years of drafting experience with 2D/3D deliverables.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks or similar CAD tools.
• Experience reviewing mechanical equipment interfaces and coordinating deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Design special-purpose, one-of-a-kind equipment and associated control systems.
• Develop drawings and 3D CAD models under the Mechanical Project Lead.
• Produce design packages and coordinate detailed design phases for integrated models.
• Prepare general arrangements, piping isometrics, piping composites, pipe supports and equipment location drawings.
• Coordinate with other designers and project teams to ensure timely design packages.
• Potentially join field walkdowns and data gathering at client facilities.
• Mentor less-experienced designers and participate in Communities of Practice.
