Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Drafter/Designer to design one-of-a-kind equipment and support multi-disciplinary projects for government-related facilities. You will develop 2D/3D drawings using AutoCAD, Inventor, and SolidWorks, coordinate with teams, and deliver complete design packages under guidance.

Required are a drafting-focused degree and 6+ years of experience, plus eligibility for U.S. government security clearance.

Qualifications

• Must be able to obtain US Government security clearance.
• An Associate's Degree in drafting, or a high school diploma and 1 or more years drafting coursework or equivalent technical experience.
• Six or more years of experience.
• Proficiency with design software tools such as AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar, to produce 2D and 3D drawings and models.
• Experience in the review of mechanical equipment, including outlines and interface points, and coordinating and developing the associated deliverables.
• Ability to interface and communicate with engineering and design teams of other disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Perform design of special-purpose, one-of-a-kind equipment including gloveboxes, precision furnaces, hot cells, custom pressure vessels, and the associated controls and auxiliary systems.
• Under the direction of the Mechanical Project Lead, develop drawings and/or 3D CAD models, while working on multi-disciplined design projects.
• Work on challenging assignments that include investigating, troubleshooting, and solving a wide variety of mechanical design issues.
• Utilize 2D and 3D CAD modeling software tools to generate design packages.
• Participate in the coordination of detailed design phases for all aspects of an integrated design model.
• Coordinate and provide support to other designers and project team members to ensure a complete and timely design package.
