Job description

Nu-Meat Technology is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for our Friedrich Metal Products facility in Greensboro, NC. Friedrich is a leading manufacturer of industrial smokehouses, smoke generators, and blast chillers for the food processing industry.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed fabrication drawings from the concept phase to release for custom-engineered food processing equipment.
• Provide assembly, subassembly, and component-level drawings, based on ASME standards, for the entire machine or project.
• Document assembly procedures for the lean manufacturing process.
• Prepare Bill of Materials for production control and purchasing.
• Generate preliminary layout drawings for the quotation phase of projects.
• Develop a firm grasp of current manufacturing methods and processes.
• Contribute design and productivity improvements.
• Experienced in product design management (concept to release).
• Interface with the manufacturing team to provide technical support and feedback.
• Compile technical information for owner and user manuals.
• Participate in company-wide continuous improvement and quality assurance projects.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Solid Edge or Solid Works CAD Systems
• 4-year Mechanical Design degree plus a minimum of two years of design experience
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Intimate knowledge of thin-gauge stainless steel sheet metal fabrication (Laser, water jet, plasma cutting).
• Hands-on practical experience working with laser cutting and press brake equipment is considered advantageous.
• Intimate knowledge of modern welding methods (TIG, MIG, Track-Welding, Robotic Welding). Hands-on practical welding experience is considered advantageous.
• Experience in fixture, template design, and methods to prevent material heat distortion during the welding process.
• Comfortable in a manufacturing setting on the production floor at times.
