Job Description Summary

The I&C (Instrumentation & Controls) Mechanical Design Engineer works within the I&C Engineering team of the GE Hitachi (GEH) Engineering organization. The I&C team is responsible for designing and implementing I&C electronic hardware and software for I&C systems for Nuclear Power Plants. The role involves mechanical design of cabinets and cable routing for retrofit applications.

Location: Preferred at GEH Headquarters in Wilmington, NC, but highly qualified US-based remote candidates within 200 miles of Wilmington will be considered. Travel to Wilmington once a month is required.

Responsibilities:

• Develop solutions for complex engineering problems, including mechanical layout and cable routing using AutoCAD and Inventor.
• Engage with customers, define scope, review results, and discuss technical risks.
• Establish work plans with technical leaders, including time and schedule estimates.
• Apply engineering fundamentals to ensure expected performance.
• Document analyses clearly per GE procedures.
• Manage time effectively to deliver quality work within timelines and communicate progress to leadership.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• At least 2 years of experience with AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar software.
• At least 2 years of experience in mechanical drawing/drafting development.
