Job summary

Cooler Master USA is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to design and develop advanced AI server cooling solutions that power next-generation GPUs and CPUs. This is a hands-on role from concept through mass production, collaborating with engineering teams, suppliers, and manufacturing partners in the U.S. and Asia.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese, with ability to communicate technical information with U.S. and China teams.
• Minimum 5 years of industry experience in Mechanical or Thermal Engineering.
• Proficient in CAD software (Creo/ProE preferred).
• Strong knowledge of aluminum and copper manufacturing processes including brazing, welding, and mass production.
• Strong understanding of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and engineering drawings.
• Willingness to travel to Asia as required.

Responsibilities

• Interface directly with Asia engineering teams and suppliers to execute product designs, tooling development, and mass production.
• Identify design opportunities to improve quality, cost, assembly, and manufacturability.
• Own all mechanical design activities from concept through mass production, including 3D design and drawings.
• Perform root cause analysis using DFMEA and PFMEA to improve product reliability.
• Drive Design for Manufacturability (DFM) with suppliers and collaborate with customers' development teams.
• Investigate field issues, implement corrective actions, and coordinate design reviews.
• Develop manufacturing SOPs in collaboration with Manufacturing and Technical Support teams.
• Support ECO/ECN processes and mass production issue resolution.

Position Overview

Salary: Mechanical Engineer: $80,000 – $120,000 (DOE)

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer or Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to design and develop advanced AI server cooling solutions that power next-generation GPU- and CPU-based computing platforms.

This is a hands-on product development role responsible for designing innovative thermal solutions from concept through mass production. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with our engineering teams, suppliers, and manufacturing partners across the U.S. and Asia to deliver world-class products for the rapidly growing AI infrastructure market. As this role requires daily collaboration with Asia-based engineering teams and suppliers, professional proficiency in both English and Mandarin Chinese is required.

Responsibilities

As a Mechanical Design Engineer or Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, your responsibilities will focus on the manufacturability, cost effectiveness, and design quality of current production and new products.

• Interface directly with Asia engineering teams and suppliers to execute product designs, tooling development, and mass production.
• Identify design opportunities to improve quality, cost, assembly, and manufacturability.
• Own all mechanical design activities, including calculations, 3D design, engineering drawings, tolerance stack-up analysis, prototyping, EVT (CP), DVT (VP), PVT (TT), and mass production.
• Perform root cause analysis and failure analysis using DFMEA and PFMEA to improve product reliability and validate design performance.
• Drive Design for Manufacturability (DFM) with suppliers and collaborate closely with customers' product development teams throughout product development.
• Investigate field issues by identifying root causes, developing short-, mid-, and long-term corrective actions, validating solutions, and coordinating design reviews across cross-functional teams until successful implementation.
• Develop manufacturing SOPs in collaboration with Manufacturing and Technical Support (FAE) teams.
• Support Engineering Change Orders (ECO/ECN) and resolve mass production issues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese, with the ability to communicate technical information effectively with engineering teams in the U.S. and China.
• Minimum 5 years of industry experience in Mechanical Engineering or Thermal Engineering.
• Proficient in CAD software (Creo/ProE preferred).
• Strong knowledge of aluminum and copper manufacturing processes, including brazing, welding, friction stir welding, soldering, die casting, forging, CNC machining, stamping, extrusion, cosmetic finishing, and mass production.
• Strong understanding of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and engineering drawings.
• Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple design activities simultaneously.
• Quick learner who is comfortable working in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
• Experience working directly with suppliers and manufacturing partners.
• Flexibility to travel to Asia as required.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with any of the following is highly desirable:

• AI server platforms (GPU, CPU, Switch, OSFP/QSFP, DIMM, SSD, CDU)
• OCP / ORV or major hyperscale server customer specifications
• Air cooling and liquid cooling system design
• Vapor chambers, heat pipes, two-phase cooling technologies, and other advanced thermal solutions
• Material selection for functional and regulatory requirements
