Responsibilities

  • Lead investigations of product failures, defects, and customer quality issues.
  • Identify root causes via troubleshooting, data analysis, tests, and failure analyses.
  • Apply 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, and FMEA methodologies.
  • Develop failure analysis reports with findings and actions.
  • Own issues from detection to resolution; drive corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and suppliers.
  • Verify effectiveness and containment of corrective actions.
  • Support manufacturing: troubleshoot CDU products and related systems.
  • Analyze quality trends and participate in NPI risk mitigation.

Position Overview

The Failure Analysis Quality Engineer is responsible for identifying, investigating, and resolving product and manufacturing issues related to liquid cooling systems, including CDUs, manifolds, and associated components. This role serves as the primary owner of failure investigations, driving root cause identification, corrective actions, and long-term quality improvements across manufacturing, suppliers, and product design.

The ideal candidate is a hands‑on problem solver who enjoys troubleshooting complex issues and working cross-functionally to eliminate recurring failures.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
  • Lead investigations of product failures, manufacturing defects, and customer-reported quality issues.
  • Identify root causes through hands‑on troubleshooting, data analysis, testing, and failure analysis techniques.
  • Utilize structured problem-solving methodologies including 8D, 5 Why Analysis, Fishbone Diagrams, and FMEA.
  • Develop and document failure analysis reports with clear findings and recommended actions.
Problem Resolution
  • Own quality issues from initial detection through final resolution.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Suppliers to implement corrective actions.
  • Verify effectiveness of corrective actions and ensure permanent resolution of recurring issues.
  • Drive containment activities when urgent quality issues arise.
Product & Manufacturing Support
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and fluid-system issues associated with CDU products.
  • Support production teams in resolving assembly, testing, and process-related quality problems.
  • Analyze quality trends and identify opportunities for process and product improvements.
  • Participate in NPI activities to proactively identify and mitigate potential failure modes.
Customer & RMA Support
  • Analyze returned products and customer failures to determine root causes.
  • Support customer quality investigations and provide technical findings.

Work closely with field service teams to resolve product reliability concerns.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related technical field is preferred. Candidates with equivalent hands‑on manufacturing or failure analysis experience are encouraged to apply.
  • 6+ years of experience in Failure Analysis, Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Quality, Reliability Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
  • Experience using structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why Analysis, Fishbone Diagram, and FMEA.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management systems.
  • Hands‑on experience investigating mechanical, electrical, fluid, or electromechanical system failures.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work cross‑functionally to drive issue resolution and corrective actions.
  • Experience with liquid cooling systems, CDUs, pumps, heat exchangers, valves, manifolds, or thermal management products.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing operations, RMA analysis, or customer quality investigations.
  • Familiarity with data center infrastructure, server hardware, or industrial equipment.
  • Experience with reliability testing, failure analysis laboratories, or validation testing.
  • Experience with statistical analysis tools such as Minitab.
  • Mandarin Chinese proficiency is highly preferred to support collaboration with Taiwan headquarters and Asia-based engineering and manufacturing teams.

For Pay Transparency-Compensation Description (Annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $110,000 - $150,000 annually.
