Job summary

EMCOR Group, via its subsidiary Poole and Kent Corporation, is seeking an Assistant Project Manager (Mechanical) to support project managers on commercial construction projects in the eastern United States. You will help oversee project scope, budgets, scheduling, and safety across mechanical and electrical trades.

The role requires 3–5 years in mechanical, plumbing, or HVAC contexts and a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Qualifications

• 3 to 5 years of professional experience in mechanical, plumbing, and/or industrial HVAC discipline.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, business administration or related field.
• Familiarity with OSHA safety standards.
• Familiarity with construction contract language and terms.
• Familiarity with local market is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Project Manager and project team to oversee commercial construction projects, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery with defined resources.
• Support safety initiatives and maintain a safe working environment for field staff.
• Review contracts, estimate documents, and project turnover scope to ensure clarity.
• Assist with document control: subcontracts, certificates of insurance, permits, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and correspondence.
• Help maintain central document control and correct drawing distribution to field teams.
• Support scheduling, progress tracking, and manpower planning; integrate with overall project schedule.
• Prepare and process change orders with pricing input from estimating and downstream clients.
• Assist with commissioning, project closeout, and the collection of O&M manuals.
