Job summary

The City of Parkland is hiring a qualified mechanical inspector to perform inspections of mechanical systems in new construction, additions, and repairs within the city boundaries. You will prepare code-based comments and ensure corrections, while assisting contractors and owners with questions and interpretations of the Florida Building Code.

This role requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid Florida license as a Journeyman or Mechanical Contractor, and at least five years of related

Qualifications

  • Five years of related work experience.
  • Must meet Broward County Board of Rules and Appeals certification requirements.
  • Certified or able to be certified by the Building Code Administrators and Inspectors Board, State of Florida.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Inspections of mechanical components in new construction, additions, alterations, and repairs.
  • Prepares written comments on deficient installations based on code and ensures corrections.
  • Assists in resolving questions from contractors, owners, builders, Building Officials, and inspectors.
  • Attends training classes, meetings and seminars to maintain certification.
  • Participates in pre-hurricane preparations and post-storm recovery efforts.
  • Performs other related duties as required/assigned.
