Job summary

City of Parkland is seeking an On-Call Building Inspector-Structural to inspect structural installations and alterations, enforcing city, county, state, and Federal codes. The role involves evaluating new construction, additions, and repairs, preparing written comments, and ensuring corrections before approval.

Candidates should have 5 years of related experience, a valid contractor license, HVHZ knowledge, and Florida certification.

Qualifications

• Residential, Building, or General Contractor license required or eligible to obtain.
• Five (5) years of related work experience.
• Must have 2 years’ HVHZ experience or demonstrate knowledge by Broward County exam.
• Certification by BCAB (Florida) in the required category.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Inspect structural components in new construction, additions, alterations, and repairs to ensure compliance with codes.
• Prepare written comments and require corrections prior to approval.
• Assist contractors, owners, builders, inspectors, and officials with inquiries and problem resolution.
• Attend trainings to maintain certifications and participate in hurricane planning and post-storm recovery efforts.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education

Residential, Building, or General Contractor license

Five years of related work experience

HVHZ knowledge or ability to demonstrate by exam

Certification by Building Code Administrators and Inspectors Board (Florida)

Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
