Job summary

The City of Sunrise is seeking a Chief Mechanical Inspector to lead the inspection and plan review of mechanical installations to ensure compliance with the Florida Building Code. You will supervise inspectors, review plans, and provide technical guidance to contractors, builders, and owners.

This role requires a valid Florida driver’s license, extensive related experience, and the ability to obtain Broward County certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Extensive related work experience.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Must meet Broward County amendments to Florida Building Code for Chief Mechanical Inspector.

Responsibilities

• Supervises inspections of mechanical systems and conformance with the Florida Mechanical Code.
• Reviews mechanical construction plans for permits and code compliance.
• Annotates plans to indicate deficiencies and requires corrections.
• Conducts on-site inspections of mechanical systems in various buildings.
• Provides technical guidance to inspectors, contractors and builders.
• Represents the City at court hearings for code violations.
• Explains building and mechanical specifications to interested parties.
• Maintains records and supports department policy discussions.
