Job summary

Industrial Electric Manufacturing (IEM) in San Antonio, TX, seeks experienced Mechanical Assemblers to join our in-office team as we bring a new plant online. This role reports to the Operations Manager and is 100% in-office with no remote work.

You will read diagrams and drawings, mount electrical components, lay out enclosures, and perform drilling, tapping, and punching to ensure precise assembly while following safety and quality guidelines.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret basic diagrams, engineering drawings and specifications.
• Assemble materials and equipment with high accuracy.
• Operate measuring devices and hand tools to ensure quality.
• Mount electrical components and frame enclosures with precision.
• Collaborate with team and follow safety and quality rules.

Responsibilities

• Read, interpret and follow diagrams, drawings and BOMs to fabricate and assemble equipment.
• Mount circuit breakers, switches, transformers, relays, terminals and other switchgear.
• Layout enclosures; drill, tap, and mount bus bar sections per drawings.
• Perform metal corrections and touch-up painting as directed.
• Support team and adapt to changing needs in a startup-minded environment.

IEM is currently seeking experienced Mechanical Assemblers to join our team in San Antonio, TX and will report into the Operations Manager.

This position will be based temporarily in NE San Antonio while our new manufacturing plant is coming online. Our permanent location is approximately 25 minutes away at Brooks, 7515 Inner Circle Dr., San Antonio, 78235. The position is also 100% in-office and does not offer remote work .

Key Responsibilities:

• Read, interpret and follow basic diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other instructions or procedures to accurately fabricate and assemble materials and equipment.
• Use multiple measuring devices such as scales, feeler gauges, rulers, micrometers, calipers tee square, machinist square and tape measure to accurately and precisely perform work.
• Mount electrical components include circuit breakers, switches, transformers, relays, contactors, terminals, input/output devices and/or all other related switchgear electrical devices.
• Layout and frame enclosures
• Drilling, tapping, punching, mounting and installing bus bar sections per drawings or instructions
• Perform metal corrections and touch-up painting as directed
• Install and/or modify various metallic or non-metallic items and components
• Comply with all safety, quality and work rules, guidelines and regulations
• The candidate will be expected to perform additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization (training provided)

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma
• 3 + years of experience in mechanical assembly using mechanical equipment
• Ability to interpret drawings, work independently
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Ability to work quickly with your hands while maintaining accuracy and high quality

Physical/Mental/Environmental:

Physical Demands: Activities: Sitting - 5% Walking/Standing - 95% Lifting: Frequently lift up to 50 lbs. Bending: Must be able to bend, squat, crawl and climb. Vision: Long periods of close work on small fonts and fine print on drawings and ability to see small or detailed items.

Mental Demands: Interpret, analyze, research and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Environment: Shop/warehouse. Not climate controlled. Exposure to excessive heat and cold, wet/humid conditions, noise/vibration, hazards, dust and fumes.
