Job summary

Aerotek is hiring a Mechanical Assembler in Franklin Park, IL. This contract-to-hire role focuses on building low and medium voltage electrical switchgear cabinets from blueprints and orders. Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in one of the following: Mechanical Assembly, Machine Building, Automotive Mechanics, or related manufacturing.
• Ability to read, interpret assembly and elevation drawings from blueprints and work orders.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• English communication skills (written and spoken).

Responsibilities

What You’ll Be Building

As a Mechanical Assembler , you will be responsible for assembling low and medium voltage electrical switchgear cabinets used in the manufacturing of electrical power distribution products.

This is not a repetitive assembly line position. You’ll work from blueprints and work orders, gather materials, assemble products, and ensure every unit meets quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Your Daily Duties Will Include:

Reading and interpreting assembly drawings and elevation drawings

Reviewing blueprints and work orders to determine assembly requirements

Gathering necessary materials, hardware, and components

Constructing modular steel cabinets

Building copper buss assemblies

Using hand and power tools to complete assemblies

Following work instructions and manufacturing specifications

Performing basic inspections to ensure product quality

Maintaining a safe and organized work area

Working closely with team members to meet production goals

Tools & Equipment You’ll Use

Technical Skills Required

Ability to interpret assembly and elevation drawings

Knowledge of electrical symbols and schematics

Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately

Understanding of fractions and decimals

Ability to perform basic math calculations

Experience using hand tools and shop equipment

Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills

Qualifications

We’re Looking For Candidates With:

• Automotive Mechanics
• Related Manufacturing or Industrial Assembly Roles

Experience working in a job-shop or custom-build manufacturing environment

Ability to work independently from blueprints and work instructions

Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English

Education

High School Diploma or Technical School education preferred, but not required.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Franklin Park, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
