Job Description - Mechanic Apprentice (2500017C)

What You’ll Do:
  • Promote Safety: Prioritize safety throughout the operation for yourself and others, following MSHA and Vulcan standards.
  • Repair and Maintain Mobile Equipment: Service, repair, adjust, and test mobile equipment to maximize performance and minimize downtime.
  • Inspect Equipment and Material: Identify and troubleshoot issues with mobile equipment and perform necessary repairs.
  • Handle and Move Objects: Safely handle, install, position, and move parts, materials, and tools within the shop and plant.
  • Document and Record Information: Maintain accurate documentation and service reports for all mobile equipment.
  • Perform Physical Activities: Engage in physical activities like climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, and handling materials.
Skills You’ll Need:
  • Experience: Prior experience with diesel or heavy construction equipment is preferred; a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred; vocational/trade training in a mechanical field is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Best Practices: Understanding of servicing heavy construction equipment is preferred.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work overtime, extended hours, outdoors in all weather conditions, and tolerate loud noises.
  • Mechanical Skills: Basic knowledge of industrial tools, their uses, and maintenance.
