Job summary

zTrip is seeking an experienced Mechanic to maintain our fleet of vehicles, diagnose issues, and perform preventative maintenance to keep units road-ready.

Qualifications

  • Experience as Mechanic or related roles (Automotive/Fleet).
  • Strong knowledge of diagnostics and preventative maintenance.
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical, and drivability issues.
  • Experience with fleet or commercial vehicles preferred.
  • Valid driver's license; ASE is a plus.
  • Basic computer skills for maintenance tracking.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance on fleet vehicles.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and drivability issues.
  • Conduct detailed vehicle inspections for safety and readiness.
  • Repair/replace components (brakes, steering, suspension, tires, electrical).
  • Maintain maintenance records and service logs.
  • Minimize downtime with proactive maintenance.
  • Collaborate with technicians and operations to meet fleet goals.
  • Identify recurring issues and recommend long-term actions.

What You'll Do as a Mechanic:
Vehicle Maintenance & Repair
  • Perform preventative maintenance services on fleet vehicles to maximize reliability and performance.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and drivability issues.
  • Conduct detailed vehicle inspections to ensure safety and operational readiness.
  • Repair and replace key vehicle components, including brakes, steering systems, suspension, tires, electrical systems, and other critical equipment.
  • Complete repairs efficiently while maintaining high standards of workmanship and quality.
  • Utilize diagnostic equipment and repair technology to accurately identify and resolve vehicle concerns.
  • Maintain detailed maintenance records, repair documentation, and service logs.
  • Help minimize vehicle downtime through proactive maintenance and timely repairs.
  • Recommend preventative solutions that extend vehicle life and reduce repair costs.
Fleet Operations Support
  • Collaborate with fellow technicians, maintenance leadership, and operations teams to meet fleet readiness goals.
  • Prioritize repairs and maintenance based on operational demands and vehicle availability.
  • Support preventative maintenance programs that improve fleet efficiency and reliability.
  • Identify recurring vehicle issues and recommend long-term corrective actions.
  • Help maintain a high level of vehicle availability to support customer service and business operations.
  • Ensure all fleet vehicles meet company performance, safety, and quality standards.
Safety & Compliance
  • Follow company safety policies and industry best practices at all times.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Properly operate tools, diagnostic equipment, lifts, and shop machinery.
  • Assist with compliance inspections and maintenance recordkeeping requirements.
  • Identify potential safety concerns before they become larger mechanical issues.
  • Adhere to manufacturer specifications and company repair procedures.
What We're Looking for in a Mechanic:
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a Mechanic, Automotive Technician, Fleet Mechanic, Diesel Technician, Maintenance Technician, or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle diagnostics, repair procedures, and preventative maintenance programs.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and operational issues.
  • Experience working on fleet vehicles, light-duty vehicles, vans, buses, or commercial vehicles preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and safety-focused.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • ASE certifications are a plus but not required.
  • Basic computer skills for maintenance tracking and repair documentation preferred.
