Job summary

zTrip KCT in Kansas City, MO is seeking a Fleet Mechanic to keep our large North American taxi fleet running safely and reliably. You’ll diagnose, repair, and maintain a high-volume fleet, ensuring vehicle uptime and compliance with safety standards.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with fleet maintenance, a strong eye for detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. ASE certifications are a plus; a valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Experience as Fleet Mechanic or similar role is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of diagnostics, repair techniques and preventive maintenance.
• Valid driver’s license required; ASE certifications are a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and repair services on fleet vehicles.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and performance-related issues.
• Conduct vehicle inspections to ensure safety, compliance and reliability.
• Repair and replace components including brakes, suspension, steering, batteries, and other systems.
• Complete repairs efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and service documentation.
• Utilize diagnostic equipment to identify and resolve vehicle concerns.
• Collaborate with fellow mechanics and leadership to meet service schedules.
• Help reduce vehicle downtime through proactive maintenance and timely repairs.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

Key Responsibilities of a Fleet Mechanic

• Perform preventative maintenance and repair services on fleet vehicles
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and performance-related issues

• Repair and replace components including brakes, suspension systems, steering components, batteries, and other vehicle systems

• Utilize diagnostic equipment and tools to identify and resolve vehicle concerns
• Collaborate with fellow mechanics and maintenance leadership to meet service schedules and repair deadlines
• Help reduce vehicle downtime through proactive maintenance and timely repairs
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment

What We’re Looking for in a Fleet Mechanic:

• Previous experience as a Fleet Mechanic, Fleet Technician, Automotive Technician, or Diesel Mechanic preferred
• Strong knowledge of vehicle diagnostics, repair techniques, and preventative maintenance procedures
• Ability to identify issues quickly and recommend effective repair solutions
• Experience servicing high-volume fleets is a plus
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Dependable, safety-focused, and self-motivated
• Valid driver’s license required
• ASE certifications are a plus but not required
