Job summary

BJ’s Wholesale Club in Derby, CT is seeking a Meat Department Team Member responsible for receiving, rotating, wrapping, and merchandising fresh and processed meats. You will assist Members by answering questions and recommending products while maintaining all cleaning and safety standards in the meat department.

This role requires teamwork, adherence to club policies, and a commitment to everyday excellence as part of a fast-paced, friendly retail environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with fresh and processed meats preferred.
• Knowledge of automatic/hand wrapping machines preferred.
• Prior experience working in a meat and/or deli department preferred.
• At least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Provides assistance to Members by answering questions regarding meats, poultry, and seafood and makes recommendations on food products.
• Weighs, packages, wraps, and labels cuts of meat, poultry, and seafood, including grinds and assists the meat cutter in packaging freshly cut meats and seafood.
• Inspects and stores meat upon delivery, ensuring quality standards are met and protecting safety.
• Rotates meat, poultry, seafood, prepared foods, and cheeses according to expiration dates and follows disposal guidelines for damaged items.
• Receives and unpacks meat, poultry, seafood, prepared foods, and cheeses in the meat cooler and freezer.
