Job summary

Sprouts Farmers Market, Inc. seeks a Senior Director of Meat & Seafood Merchandising to own the strategy and execution for a premier fresh category.

You will guide category performance, pricing, promotions, and supplier partnerships while leading a high‑performing team across store operations and finance. You will translate customer insights and commodity trends into actionable plans that boost sales, margin, availability, and item productivity, while ensuring quality and food safety across all

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• 10+ years of progressive retail merchandising, category management, buying, or fresh food leadership experience; meat and/or seafood experience strongly preferred.
• Strong commercial leadership with experience translating strategy into executable plans.
• Ability to lead a fresh business with multiple operational touchpoints.
• Proven ability to build differentiated category strategies and improve item productivity.
• Strong understanding of meat and seafood categories, protein commodities, and supplier capabilities.
• Strong analytical skills connecting financial, customer, and store-level insights into actions.
• Experience in supplier strategy, negotiations, and service-level improvements.
• Ability to influence across merchandising, sourcing, supply chain, operations, finance, and marketing.
• Direct, accountable, collaborative leadership style and talent development.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and execution of the 3-5 year Meat & Seafood strategy to differentiate Sprouts’ fresh offer.
• Serve as the senior business leader for Meat & Seafood, guiding priorities and investments.
• Own overall category performance including sales, margin, shrink, and inventory productivity.
• Establish vision for assortment, pricing, promotions, and innovation to drive profitable growth.
• Leverage insights and trends to identify opportunities and inform strategic decisions.
• Build strategic supplier partnerships to enhance quality, cost, and exclusives.
• Collaborate across Sourcing, Supply Chain, Replenishment, Planning, Operations, Finance, Marketing, Ecommerce, and Field Leadership.
• Champion product quality, food safety, supplier compliance, and operational standards.
• Lead cross-functional issue resolution and drive sustainable improvements.
• Develop organizational capability through leadership development and coaching.
• Provide clear communication and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
