Job summary

Quirch Foods, LLC in Orlando, FL is seeking an experienced Meat Department Manager to oversee daily operations, supervise staff, and ensure top-quality product handling and customer service in a military retail setting.

You will manage inventory, budgeting, and promotions, enforce food safety and regulatory standards, and coordinate with purchasing and logistics for on-time deliveries while maintaining safety and cleanliness.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required; degrees in Business or Food Science preferred.
• 3+ years in meat department management or similar retail/food service leadership.
• Knowledge of meat cutting, fabrication, merchandising.
• Experience with food safety, sanitation, and regulatory requirements.
• Proven supervisory and team leadership skills.
• Strong customer service and communication abilities.
• Ability to work in a physically active retail environment, including cold storage.
• Must be able to obtain base access credentials for military installation.
• Experience with retail POS and inventory systems is a plus.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the meat department, including ordering, receiving, cutting, packaging, pricing, and merchandising.
• Supervise, schedule, and train staff to ensure coverage and performance standards.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and USDA/FDA requirements and base rules.
• Monitor inventory, freshness, and shrinkage; implement controls to minimize waste.
• Manage department budget, labor costs, and sales, with reporting to leadership.
• Maintain strong relationships with Navy Exchange stakeholders for smooth operations.
• Develop merchandising and promotional plans to drive sales.
• Ensure proper FIFO/FEFO handling and cold-chain storage.
• Address customer inquiries and complaints promptly.
• Coordinate maintenance for cutting, wrapping, refrigeration equipment.
• Maintain department cleanliness and safety standards.
• Work with Quirch Foods purchasing and logistics to ensure timely delivery.
