Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor's preferred.
• 3+ years in meat department management or related retail management.
• Experience in meat cutting, fabrication, and merchandising.
• Strong knowledge of food safety and regulatory requirements for retail meat.
• Proven supervisory ability to schedule, train, and manage staff.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work in cold storage and refrigerated areas.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain base access credentials.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the retail meat department, including ordering, receiving, cutting, packaging, pricing, and merchandising.
• Supervise, schedule, and train staff to ensure adequate coverage and performance.
• Ensure department compliance with food safety, sanitation, and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor inventory levels, product freshness, and shrinkage; minimize waste and maximize profitability.
• Manage department budget, labor costs, and sales performance; prepare related reports for leadership.
• Maintain a strong relationship with Navy Exchange management and personnel to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction.
• Develop and execute merchandising and promotional plans to drive department sales.
• Ensure proper handling, rotation (FIFO/FEFO), and cold-chain storage of meat products.
• Address customer inquiries, requests, and complaints promptly and professionally.
• Coordinate routine maintenance and repairs for department cutting, wrapping, and refrigeration equipment.
• Maintain department cleanliness, safety, and adherence to health and safety standards.
• Partner with Quirch Foods purchasing and logistics teams to ensure timely product delivery and appropriate stock levels.
