Job summary

Meijer Inc. in Michigan is seeking a Department Manager to lead daily operations, deliver outstanding customer service, and drive sales. You will supervise staffing, training, and performance to meet store goals.

This role emphasizes coaching teams, managing inventory and shrink, and implementing Meijer's service standards. You will work in a fast-paced retail environment across departments and report to the Store Management team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate to team members with clear direction.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict and address root causes.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information for decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor team members across the organization.
• Successful completion of all required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and team members.
• Staffing, selection and hiring to meet staffing needs.
• Promotes succession planning by providing career paths and development for team members.
• Document and apply disciplinary actions and make recommendations concerning discharge.
• Responsible for P&L, achieving sales and maintaining shrink for the department.
• Model exceptional, fast and friendly customer service.
• Mentor and coach team members to exceed goals and maintain Meijer standards.
• Ensure team is thoroughly trained and has completed required training.
• Spend majority of time in-store communicating with customers and team members to ensure service excellence.
• Promote a safe work environment and maintain reliable attendance.
