Job summary

You will oversee staffing and hiring, promote succession planning, manage daily operations, monitor P&L and sales, and model friendly, efficient service. The role emphasizes training, safety, and delivering a positive shopping experience for customers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or its equivalent required.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in other areas such as meat, bakery, produce and deli; customer service and product flow experience helpful.
• Ability to communicate clearly and provide direction to team members.
• Ability to resolve conflict and manage multiple tasks.
• Ability to analyze financial and statistical information to inform decisions and teach suggestive selling.
• Ability to mentor team members and lead safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and team members.
• Staffing, selection and hiring to achieve staffing needs.
• Promotes succession planning by providing career paths and development; involvement in promotion decisions.
• Documents and applies disciplinary actions and makes recommendations concerning discharge.
• Responsible for P&L, achieving sales and maintaining shrink for the department.
• Models exceptional, fast and friendly customer service.
• Communicates the Meijer Friendly Initiative in team meetings and conversations.
• Mentors and coaches the team to exceed sales goals and maintain Meijer standards.
• Ensures team training and completion of required certifications.
• Spends majority of time in-store communicating with customers and team members to ensure service is delivered.
• Promotes a safe work environment.
• Reliable and consistent attendance required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
