Job summary

Hy-Vee meat department manager located in the Toledo area leads the Meat department to ensure the freshest products, proper sanitation, and exceptional customer service. You will drive department profitability, supervise staff, and maintain high standards of hygiene and display quality.

Qualifications

• Must have ability to do logical or scientific thinking to solve problems with several abstract and concrete variables.
• Ability to do arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
• Possess the ability to compose original correspondence; interpret written work instructions; interview job applicants; follow technical manuals and have increased contact with people.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a positive attitude; creates an atmosphere of friendliness and fun through flexibility and teamwork.
• Greets customers and provides prompt, courteous service; sets a good example.
• Sets department standards for service, cleanliness and profitability.
• Smiles and greets customers; addresses them by name when possible.
• Assists customers by guiding to products, securing items, and handling requests.
• Recruits, hires, trains, supervises and evaluates department staff.
• Determines department goals with store director and plans weekly schedules.
• Inspects signage, displays and merchandise; orders replenishment.
• Handles customer issues and ensures correct pricing and invoicing.
• Analyzes weekly sales and trends; prepares projections and ads.
• Conducts department inventory and plans displays/promotions.
