Job summary

Whole Foods Market in Jericho, NY is seeking a Meat Cutter to cut, prep, display and sell meat products while delivering friendly, efficient service in line with store standards.

You will cut, platters, and merchandise beef, pork, lamb, veal and poultry; maintain signs and pricing; mentor trainees; and uphold health, safety, and quality requirements. Requires 14+ months retail experience and completion of the WFM Butcher Apprentice Program or equivalent.

• 14+ months retail experience.
• Completion of WFM Butcher Apprentice Program or equivalent training.

Responsibilities

• Cuts, platters, and merchandises products (beef, pork, lamb, veal, poultry).
• Prepares specialty meat merchandise (i.e. sausage, oven ready products, and cured meats).
• Checks product to make sure it meets WFM quality standards.
• Maintains sampling program.
• Monitors and assists in preventing spoilage.
• Mentors and supports assigned Meat Cutter Trainee(s).
• Provides excellent customer service and uses suggestive selling techniques; answers phones promptly.
• Maximizes sales through proper prep, storage, and merchandising; ensures pricing accuracy.
