Job summary

SpartanNash is seeking a Meat Cutter to responsibly cut meats, weigh products, and prepare items to company standards. You will create value-added products and follow recipes for sausage and other items, including wrapping and labeling for sale.

The role requires maintaining fresh displays, rotating stock, and assisting with pricing while following PPE and food safety guidelines. Prior meat-cutting or apprentice experience is preferred; a high school diploma or GED is required.

Qualifications

• Experience cutting meat to prescriptions and standards.
• Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents.
• Basic mathematical skills for pricing and measurement.
• Suggestive selling/knowledge of products supports customer service.

Responsibilities

• Cut and weigh steaks, chops, etc. for individual servings.
• Produce 'value-added' products per guidelines.
• Cut, trim, and bone carcass sections or prime cuts.
• Follow recipes to grind and tray meats and make sausage and other products.
• Price, date, wrap and/or bag meat products using department scales.
• Properly fill, rotate and merchandise shelves, cases and displays.
• Notify manager if products and supplies need to be ordered.
• Receives, unloads, and stocks merchandise.
• Maintain familiarity with all products and their differences.
• Practice suggestive selling techniques with customers.
• Maintain a clean, attractive and well-stocked department.
• Follow PPE, safety and food safety guidelines.
