Job summary

Save-A-Lot, Ltd. in Euclid, Ohio is seeking a Meat Cutter to ensure the store’s meat department meets company standards. You will trim, prepare, package and merchandize meat, assist with ordering, and maintain proper date rotation while delivering strong customer service.

The role requires 18 years or older, a high school diploma or equivalent, basic math, and reading/writing English. Experience with meat cutting equipment and a flexible, dependable attitude are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience safely using manual pallet jacks, hand tools and power equipment, including but not limited to knives, wrappers, scales, slicers, cubing machine, and power saw (where certified to cut meat) preferred.
• Proficiency in basic math skills required, including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
• Must be able to read, write and speak in English. Demonstrate effective oral and written communication, interpersonal skills. Language proficiency in Spanish or other languages is a plus
• Must be dependable and flexible, including a willingness to work in other areas of the store, as needed with little or no advance notice
• Excellent customer service, teamwork and problem-solving skills
• Must adhere to a uniform dress code

Responsibilities

• Using knives and power equipment, cuts and/or packages authorized beef, pork and poultry items according to company policies and procedures
• Wraps, weighs and prices cuts of meat based on company and pricing guidelines
• Labels packages according to COOL, USDA and company standards
• Ensures displays and case signs are updated appropriately, and meat is merchandised and presented to set standards with a focus on maximizing sales
• Assists with product ordering
• Maintains proper date rotation for dated and undated products per company policy, both in the display case and in the storage coolers
• Prepares and places meat cuts and products in the display counter according to company procedures so they will appear attractive and appealing to the customers
• Receives, inspects, and stores meat upon delivery, to maintain cold chain and ensure meat quality
• Ensures excellent sanitation and quality standards are met daily which adhere to company policy
• Follows and executes all company policies and procedures which includes but is not limited to: COOL, Food Safety, Sanitation, Meat/Produce Scale operation, Mark Downs, Inventory Processes, Meat POG’s, Meat Cutter Resource Manual, Daily Manager Signoff and Meat Cutting List
• Responsibilities may include other perishable and non-perishable related duties necessary to maintain optimal store performance
• Protects company property, funds and merchandise
• May be assigned to work in more than one store and other areas of the store
• Performs other duties as assigned
