Job summary

BJ’s Wholesale Club in Springfield, MA is seeking a Meat Clerk to receive, rotate, cut, wrap and merchandize fresh and processed meats, including grinders and deli items. You’ll help with meat selection, maintain sanitation, and support club policies while delivering great member service.

The role emphasizes teamwork, speed, accuracy and adherence to safety standards in a fast-paced club environment. Prior meat cutting experience is required; training or apprenticeship is preferred.

Qualifications

• Completion of a training program/apprenticeship required.
• Previous meat cutting experience required.
• Knowledge of automatic/hand wrapping machines preferred.
• At least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Engages and provides assistance to our Members by making recommendations along with answering questions regarding meat, poultry, and seafood.
• Prepares special cuts of meat ordered by Members.
• Cuts, grinds, and processes fresh meats to company cutting standards.
• Weighs, packages, wraps, and labels cuts of meat, poultry, and seafood to company packaging standards.
• Rotates meats, poultry, seafood, and cheeses according to expiration dates.
• Maintains all club policies and procedures.
