Job summary

The Fresh Thyme Market Meat Cutter is responsible for keeping meat cases stocked and clean during business hours, assisting customers, and maintaining a friendly, energetic demeanor.

The role requires attention to detail, strong customer service, and the ability to work in a fast-paced grocery environment. Prior meat department experience is preferred, with safety and equipment knowledge emphasized. Flexibility to work varied shifts and adherence to health department guidelines are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 2 years professional experience.
• Grocery retail meat experience preferred (2–3 years).
• Journeyman cutter or apprenticeship preferred.

Responsibilities

• Stock meat cases with presentation, facing, filling and pricing accuracy.
• Maintain cleanliness of meat aisles, storage, and work areas.
• Monitor rotation and discard expired stock.
• Assist customers at the meat counter and cross-sell products.
• Receive and log shipments for temperature and quality.
• Operate knives, scales, wrappers, and meat processing equipment.
• Ensure correct temperatures during production of meat/seafood.
• Cut, tray and package meat/seafood items for the day.
• Maintain organization and safety in cooler and freezer.
